By diving into public health and big data analytics, Dr. Jessri and her team inform nutrition policies and guidelines to mitigate the effects of chronic diseases on the health and healthcare system. Based at the Nutritional Epidemiology Big Data Analytics Laboratory in University of British Columbia (UBC), the NEPoH Lab offers experiential learning for students seeking exposure to academic research. Each year, Dr. Jessri welcomes a select number of students to enhance their learning through NEPoH. Prospective candidates with aligned research interests, strong work ethics, and critical thinking skills are encouraged to apply HERE.

Postdoctoral Fellows

Graduate Students

Dr. Jessri supports Master’s and Doctoral students each year through the Human Nutrition program, providing close supervision to each student and their research projects. Students can either develop their own projects or continue with one of the ongoing projects. A stipend is available to all graduate students, but external funding application is strongly encouraged. Undergraduate Students

Undergraduate Thesis / Directed Studies

Undergraduate students at UBC are eligible to earn course credits for completing directed studies and/or undergraduate thesis research projects supervised by Dr. Jessri. Students must be able to demonstrate research potential, function well independently, and receive admissions approval from their Program Advisors.

Work Learn

Paid opportunities with NEPoH designed specifically for UBC undergraduate and graduate students are available on an as-needed basis. Winter Session positions can provide up to 10 hours per week and Summer Session positions can provide up to 20 hours per week. Volunteer Research Assistants

Volunteer opportunities may be offered to those wanting to gain exposure to NEPoH projects. The number of hours required will depend on project availability. Example opportunities include working closely with graduate students on literature reviews and/or data analysis.
